Two Pi Introduces Acoustic Comfort Optimization

By Hearing Review - The Insider,
Publication Date: April 4, 2008

Review of a new product algorithm portfolio for hearing-aid platforms. Acoustic Comfort Optimization (ACO) from the Austrian company Two Pi is reportedly capable of accurately identifying transient noises and separating them from transients in speech by performing continuous analysis in signal behavior. While common noise-reduction algorithms do not protect from transient noises like that of clanging dishes in restaurants, which are often too short in duration to be detected by conventional noise estimation, ACO overcomes this by utilizing generalized signal statistics. ACO, bundled with the SWIFT dynamic range compression scheme and FORMANT BOOSTER, a speech enhancement system, are available for use with the Ezairo 5900 platform from ON Semiconductor.
