Carson SureGrip SG-12 Magnifier

By Moore, Auggie; Large Print Reviews,
Publication Date: March 31, 2009

Review of the Carson SureGrip SG-12, a hand-held low-vision aid that features a 2.5X magnification glass lens. A small 10X spot lens is also embedded in the device’s handle. The reviewer found the SureGrip’s large lens to provide a large viewing area without noticeable edge distortion. The extra magnification over standard 2X hand-held devices was found to offer a significant increase in magnification size. Having the spot lens inserted in the handle rather than in the larger lens was also found to be an advantage. A slight disadvantage of the SureGrip SG-12 noted was its weight; however, the reviewer points out that an acrylic-lens version of the magnifier, SureGrip SG-16, is available for those for whom weight is an issue.
