Mobility and More: Classy Camaro

By PN: Paraplegia News, Vol. 64, No. 3, p. 31
Publication Date: March 2010

Article describes the conversion of a Chevrolet Camaro to make it accessible to a driver with paraplegia. Undertaken by an engineering team at startracks.org, a company located in Elkhart, Indiana which specializes in customized vehicle design, the conversion of the 2010 Camaro involved removal of all front sheet metal to modify the bodywork and the addition of a special hinge that raises the door on the driver’s side, allowing the owner to transfer into the driver’s seat and his wheelchair to be stowed behind the seat. A remote door opener will be added to the system. Additional projects for the company include lifts and equipment for recreational vehicles and trailers. More information can be found on the company website, http://www.startracks.org/.
