CSU’s Accessibility Initiative

By Christie, John; Matilda Ziegler Magazine for the Blind,
Publication Date: July 5, 2011

Article describes accessibility testing conducted by California State University of its websites. According to the article, each of CSU’s websites, intranets, and web applications are tested in accordance with Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act and the Web Accessibility Initiative’s (WAI) Guidelines to assure that they will work correctly with screen readers, text readers, and voice activated devices. CSU also uses HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff, software which provides validation, remediation, and ongoing monitoring of the university’s websites and their accessibility compliance. A HiSoftware Implementation Plan, developed with a group of CSU students, includes standard testing requirements, wide tool deployment, and training.
