Built from a PocketPC, this device offers a color display along with synthesized and digitized speech output and an amplified speaker. Custom-designed foam body armor protects the device. The unit comes with two pre-programmed vocabulary sets and more than 3,000 Picture Communication Symbols are included for customizing and creating pages. The unit stores hundreds of pages. Other features include a volume knob, an on/off switch with auto power down, and a touch screen which enables activation with the touch or release of a finger or stylus. The unit offers a choice of nine DECtalk voices for synthesized speech or 45 minutes to six hours of digitized recorded speech, depending on quality. The user can import photos or graphics and PC Editor software enables the design or editing of communication boards on the ChatPC or on any Windows based personal computer (PC). The unit supports multiple picture layouts: 2 x 2, 2 x 3, 3 x 3, 4 x 4, or 5 x 5. POWER: Uses a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. OPTIONS: Carrying case. DIMENSIONS: 5.8 x 3.5 x 2 inches.
