--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 7/2000) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Vantage is a closed circuit television (CCTV) system designed to magnify any printed text for viewing by persons with low vision. The user positions the text to be read under a CCD camera, and the text appears, enlarged 3 to 45 times, on a video screen. The non-glare screen can be raised, lowered, and tilted. Underlining and overlining are possible, and a split screen can be used to view two texts. Brightness and contrast are adjustable, and a flip of a switch will change the image from positive to negative display. The reading table glides vertically and horizontally which can be moved with the finger tips. Vantage can also act as a monitor for Vista (see entry), providing large-print access to standard software on IBM-PC computers. Vantage comes with a black and white 14-inch non-glare screen. Green and amber screens and 19-inch screens are also available. Manuals are in large print format. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM PC computers, when coupled with Vista software.
