--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 5/2005) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Shadow Mono-ski was designed for downhill sit-skiing by persons with mobility disabilities (paraplegics, quadriplegics, and lower extremity amputees) as well as non-disabled individuals. The mono- ski has a 4-piece boot shell made of high-density polyethylene, is vacuum formed and flexible with a high resistance to cold. Lined with dual density, closed-cell foam and designed with straps at the foot, knee, legs, and waist, the shell forms a tight fit to the skier's body to enable the best possible translation of body movement to ski control. A rigid, height-adjustable upper back support with chest straps is optional for skiers with high-level injuries. The 8 or 10-inch footrest is height and angle adjustable, with multi-mounting positions. The tubes are made of aluminum and high strength steel. The Shadow Mono-ski package includes ski, adjustable boot, mounting brackets, and outriggers. Shadow outriggers are height-adjustable and lightweight, with aluminum shafts and two-position ski tips. SUSPENSION: The shock system is speed sensitive, variable dampening, and available in light, medium, or heavy. CHAIRLIFT COMPATIBILITY: Self-loading and unloading. The skier uses a lever-action to activate the raise. Then, the slightest pressure from the lift chair's safety bar during preparation for unloading easily "pops" the mechanism into a ski-ready position. COLORS: Choice of 11 standard colors; 3 custom colors are available for an additional $105; 3 custom splatter patterns are available for an additional $340; special effects/custom paint jobs are available for an additional $420. WEIGHT: 38 pounds.
