(Verified 4/2004) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE --- The Compax is an ultralight travel or transport wheelchair available in three models: the Compax Lite, the Compax Max, and the Compax Self-Drive. The Compax Lite and the Compax Max are both attendant propelled; the Compax Self-Drive has a drive mechanism for user propulsion. FRAME (LxWxH): The folding frame is steel-reinforced aluminum and folds compactly to approximately the size of a small golf bag. Open, the chair is 46 x 21 x 36.5 inches with the 16-inch seat and 46 x 23.5 x 36.25 inches with an 18-inch seat. Folded the chair is 43.5 x 12.75 x 13.5 inches with a 16-inch seat and 44 x 13.25 x 13.75 inches with the 18-inch seat. SEAT: A sling-style seat and back is standard on all models. A bucket style seat with a seat belt is optional on all models. The seat is available in a choice of 16 or 18 inches wide. The seat depth on the 16-inch seat is 14 inches and 14.75 inches on the 18-inch seat. The seat to floor height is 19 inches with the 16-inch seat and 22 inches with the 18-inch seat. The seat to back angle is 100 degrees on all models and the back height is 15 inches with the 16-inch seat and 16 inches with the 18-inch seat. The distance between the seat and footrest is adjustable. UPHOLSTERY: The standard seat is canvas and is offered in a choice of purple, ocean blue, burgundy, raspberry, navy blue, or teal. ARMRESTS: Detachable, flip-up, desk style plastic armrests. DRIVE MECHANISM: The Compax Self-Drive has a self-propulsion mechanism consisting of two plastic- coated handrims located on either side of the chair above the rear wheels and a positive belt drive connecting the rims to the rear wheels. BRAKES: Adjustable toggle brakes on the rear wheels. CASTERS: The Compax Lite has four 8-inch diameter wheels and casters with puncture proof tires; The Compax Max and the Self-Drive model have the same front casters. WHEELS: The Max and Self-drive models have 11-inch diameter nylon rear wheels with lightweight microcellular polyurethane tires. FOOTRESTS: Independently adjustable removable swing-away footplates. CAPACITY: The maximum user weight is 175 pounds with the 16-inch seat and 250 pounds with the 18-inch seat. WEIGHT ( with standard seat and without front rigging): 20 pounds with a 16-inch seat and 21.5 with an 18-inch seat. WARRANTY: Lifetime warranty.
