RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Unit is a general electric portable cassette recorder player available in both 4 track, Library of Congress compatible, or standard 2 track, with speech compression capability; features compression during playback up to two times normal speed, has pitch and speed correction controls, gauged to permit separate or simultaneous control and one hand operation; has speech expansion to 0.8 normal speed without pitch correction. Digital counter establishes relative position of information on tape. Memory rewind counter switch allows rewinding tape to a user designed tape position. Unit has automatic level control ( ALC) recording, built in microphone, jacks for remote microphone and earphones. Controls include stop and eject, pause, play, fast forward, rewind review and record, all with tactile markings, and speed, pitch, tone, volume and on off switch. A three way meter checks battery condition, manual record level, or indicates ALC recording. Power: six C batteries; 110 or 120 volts AC; auto adapter cord used by plugging into a cigarette lighter in a car. Dimensions: 9 by 3 by 7 inches. Weight: 4.5 pounds. Hand strap, shoulder strap and carrying case. Rechargeable battery pack is separate unit. Weight: 5 pounds.

Notes: All functions can be performed on battery power except compressed playback which requires line power, auto adaptor and car battery power, or rechargeable battery pack. Service available at G.E. Service Centers nationwide.
