The Balance and Vestibular Rehabilitation Kit is an exercise planning program designed for use by physical therapists who work with individuals with balance or lower extremity disabilities. This collection contains therapeutic interventions to teach compensations or adaptations for postural stability in a variety of situations; exercises to enhance static and dynamic postural stability in a variety of reduced and conflicting sensory environments; a variety of exercises related to functional activities; comprehensive eye exercises in varying functional postures for increasing gaze stabilization and oculomotor control; and a variety of exercise progressions from easy to advanced. Exercises are included for poor or deficient balance, equilibrium, static/dynamic sitting or standing problems, dizziness or vertigo, gait instability, general unsteadiness, total hip or knee replacement, or ankle sprain or strain. The kit includes 130 professionally
illustrated exercises (sitting, standing - dynamic, standing - static, eye exercises, otolith stimulation, gait, and habituation), general safety tips, and two full field stimulus patterns (stripes and checkerboard). This kit is available either as a set of reproducible cards or as a computer exercise database for use with PC-Kits software (not included; see entry). The computer version includes English and Spanish captions. DIMENSIONS: Full field stimulus patterns are 8.5 x 11 inches.
