The Medical Alert System is an emergency alert system with monitoring service designed for use by seniors or individuals with disabilities who are at risk for medical emergencies. The system includes an emergency alert button and a console unit. When the emergency button is pressed, it sends a wireless signal to the console, which dials the monitoring center. If the phone line is in use, the console will automatically disconnect the call in order to contact the monitoring center. A medically-trained operator will answer the alert and evaluate the situation to determine whether to call emergency medical personnel, family, friend, or police, or fire personnel, based upon pre-determined instructions. Non-emergency calls are also welcome. The console's speakerphone function provides two-way communication beteween the user and the monitoring center. The emergency button may be worn with a band like a wristwatch or on a necklace, as a pendant. It is lightweight, durable and waterproof with a full range of 1,000 feet. The console unit comes pre-programmed for installation. It automatically emits a daily signal to the monitoring center to assure proper operation. This test is programmed to sense power failure and phone-line connectivity within the unit. OPTIONS: Lockbox to store a home entry key to enable entry by emergency medical personnel. POWER: Console uses 5-day battery with a low battery alarm. WARRANTY: Lifetime guarantee on emergency pendant.
Notes: The company states that its monitoring facility is Underwriters Labortories (UL) Inc. certified.
