--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 04/2012). RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Galileo is a screen magnification program designed for use by individuals with low vision. Magnification ranges from one to 48 times original size, and the program also provides high visibility mouse pointers. The program can be run independently or in combination with the Virgo NT screen reader program from Baum (see separate entry). User preferences can be saved in the control window, but once the preferences are fixed, the program runs in the background and does not occupy screen space. The program works with any video card, display resolution, or color setting from 16 color to True Color. Installation is automatic. All interface buttons have pictures that make them easy to find and learn, and include ToolTips with a short explanation. Detailed documentation is also included. Screen magnification can be used with or without speech, and is compatible with any speech synthesis based on SAPI. OPTIONS: English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, and Swedish. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Pentium 200 or equivalent processor, Pentium II 300 or faster recommended; Windows NT 4.0/Windows 2000 operating system; minimum 32 megabytes (MB) memory, 64 MB or more recommended; 30 MB free disk space, 150 MB recommended; any sound card.
