LookOUT Screen Reader is a voice output screen reader program designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This program speaks what the user types; reads documents, e-mails, and web pages aloud; reads tables; announces format, attribute information, and where the user is in the system; speaks contextual help information; and accesses some CD-ROM reference works. No extra speech synthesizer is required. The user can select speed, pitch, volume, and male and female voice options. There is a Novice verbose mode for beginners, and on-screen navigational musical tones. The program also provides on-screen markers for navigation, and Visual Basic scripting for complex situations. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: A fast (at least 350 megahertz (MHz)) multimedia personal computer (PC) or laptop and 64 megabytes (MB) random access memory (RAM); any sound card and a low-end video card; Windows XP, 98, ME, 2000, or NT with Service Pack 6.
