This talking digital map contains information on most addresses and street intersections in the U.S. or Canada. It shows all 50 states, over 3,100 counties, more than 23,000 cities, and over 99% of the US. There are 277 Coverage Area Maps (CAM's) for the US. The program has a user interface designed to describe this map data verbally using right-left, front-back, clock face, compass, or 360 degree terminology. Arrow keys are used to navigate around the map while a speech synthesizer announces as much or little information as the user wants to hear. It describes the length of each block in imperial or metric units, the heading and distance to a way point or destination, points of interest sorted by proximity or alphabetically, and each block and turn of a route from a starting position to a destination. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM and IBM compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Pentium, 486 or faster processor with 100 megahertz (MHz) recommended; Windows 3.1, 95, 98, or ME (Windows 2000 and NT may work but are not supported); VGA display (will not work with Monochrome or CGA display adapters); 8 Megabytes (MB) random access memory (RAM); minimum 40 MB free on hard drive. OPTIONS: Maps of the complete US and Canada are available. The U.S. version is on 4 CDs (Western, Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast). In addition to all 50 states, Puerto Rico is included in the Southeast region and Guam in the Western region. The Canadian version is on one CD.
