(Verified 12/2002) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- PROVOX Version 4 is a voice output screen access program designed to give the computer user control of voice output. The program recognizes and spells Amateur Radio call signs; supports JAWS-style dedicated numeric keypad review, dual mode direct and review operation, and 3-D subscreens (rows by columns by attributes). PROVOX has one or two Auto Alert (hot zone) subscreens, and up to four Auto Ignore (dead zone) subscreens. It also includes WatchDog, to monitor screen activity, and HighLite screen-capture capability. PROVOX outputs most keystrokes and screen display and will describe extended graphics characters on the screen. The system offers phonetic spelling to aid speech recognition. The user can interrupt speech output to skip over portions of screen display, cause the repetition of previously spoken output, locate the cursor, or read only highlighted areas. Other options include moving up or down the screen one line, word, or character at a time and restricting voice output to a specified window. The user can specify whether or not silent characters such as "return" or "space" are spoken. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Requires under 32 K and may be loaded in upper memory. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM PC or compatible computers. PROVOX supports more than a dozen voice synthesizers; contact the manufacturer for details. Works with Dos 5.0 and its buggy ANSI.SYS driver. Detects and adapts to large EGA and VGA display screens.
