Picture of KEYSTONE DISCRETE KeyStone Discrete is a voice output screen reader and utility program and voice input program designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision or learning disabilities. This program integrates discrete voice recognition technology with a text-to-speech screen reader and a homophone and spelling checker. It comprises KeyStone ScreenSpeaker (Discrete Edition) and DragonDictate software (see separate entries). In the speech recognition enrollment process, this program reads out the training script for the user to repeat. Users don't have to be able to read a single word to use the system. When using this program, the user dictates into a microphone attached to a suitable computer. Speech is converted into text by DragonDictate and displayed on the screen using Microsoft Word. The program then speaks out the text in its own clear computer-generated voice so that the user can determine whether the correct words have been displayed. When a correction is needed, the program speaks the displayed alternatives, and the user can choose an option with a voice command like "Choose 3," or the user can enter the intended text with the help of the program's built-in spelling checker. Help is supplied both on-screen and audibly. A hot-line telephone and e-mail service is also available. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 166 MegaHertz (MHz) Pentium 4 processor; minimum 256 megabytes (MB) random access memory (RAM); Windows 98 (second edition)/ME/NT/2000/XP operating system; 1 gigabyte (GB) hard disk space; CD-ROM drive; USB noise cancelling headset with Audio Microsoft Word 97 or later.

Notes: This program will not operate alongside Dragon NaturallySpeaking from ScanSoft.
