The Medscope Personal Emergency Response System is an emergency alert system designed for use by individuals with mobility, severe physical, or balance disabilities, or who are at risk for medical emergencies. The system comprises a transmitter and a base unit. When activated, the transmitter causes the base unit to contact a monitoring center. Wristband and pendant-style transmitters which activate at the press of a button are available. Also available are adapted and custom transmitters, which enable the system to be activated by almost any part of the body. MedScope’s operators are available 24 hours per day, 365 days a year, from coast to coast, to respond to emergencies. Operators stay on the line until help arrives. Calls can be answered in 140 languages. Also available is an on-line medical data service allowing physicians and emergency personnel access to critical medical data. One or more specially-designed smoke detectors can be added to enable the system to act as a centrally-monitored fire alarm system.
