The BlackHawk is a symbolic direct selection communicator designed with recordable voice output for individuals with communication disabilities. The compact and lightweight device offers four levels of 16 selection areas, with 3.75 seconds of digitized speech per selection area. One button programming makes vocabulary set-up easy and straightforward and a tri-color LED provides feedback. The soft-pressure membrane touchpanel is arranged in a four by four matrix of one inch cells for language. There is an additional four cell column for accessing each of four separate levels resulting in a total of sixty-four messages storable capacity. The separation into levels means vocabulary can be organized into functional contexts. The touchpanel has a transparent plastic cover which is slotted on the side for slipping in overlay sheets. Depending on the user's abilities, a single overlay with all four levels represented in the quadrants of each cell may be used, or single level representation overlays may be used changed as context changes. The unit has a volume control and a carrying case is included OPTIONS: Gridded keyguard, shoulder/wrist strap, and an easel/handle are included. DIMENSIONS: 9.5 x 6 x 1.75 inches. WEIGHT: 1.5 pounds.
