--- DISCONTINUED. RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Messenger is a computerized communication system program for people with speech impairments. The program is menu-driven and can store up to 260 messages of two screen lines (keyboard version) or one screen line ( scanning version). "Quick messages", which are not saved, can also be generated. The messages are stored under 26 categories; category labels and topics may be displayed on the screen. The user types a letter to indicate the desired category and a number to indicate the desired message in that category. The output is displayed on the screen and may be routed to a speech synthesizer or printer. A 700-word word prediction vocabulary is included; the user may add up to 800 additional words. The user may summon help by pressing the TAB key or holding down the switch; the computer will respond by producing a series of beeps until a key or the switch is pressed again. A document preparation mode for creating, saving, editing, and printing up to 10 brief documents is also included. Two versions are available: Messenger- KB for use with a standard computer keyboard ($79.00) and Messenger-SA for use with a single switch in scanning mode ($89.00). An Echo speech synthesizer may be used for speech output. Price includes shipping and handling. COMPATIBILITY: For use on Apple IIe, and Apple IIc computers.
