PDA GoSpeech, model PD100, is a direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with communication, speech, or neurological disabilities or laryngectomy, brain injury, or stroke. This personal data assistant (PDA) based portable speech synthesizer uses DECtalk voices to speak phrases stored on the PDA (not included). This synthesizer can speak as many phrases as can be stored in the PDA's memory. The phrases to be spoken can be called from a pull-down menu, or directly typed in using the graffiti writing on the PDA. The synthesizer connects to the PDA through its serial port. It fits on the user's upper arm or forearm, leaving the user's hands free to work when it is not in use. The synthesizer has an unlimited vocabulary, and can speak in either whole sentence or word-by-word mode.
There is also a "repeat last sentence" function. The device includes a built-in audio amplifier and speaker. POWER: Uses four triple-A or rechargeable batteries. COMPATIBILITY: Palm OS-based PDA, including devices from HandSpring, Sony, HandEra, Kyocera, IBM, or Qualcom. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Palm OS 3.0 or newer, including Palm OS 5.x.
