The Speech Enhancer is an assistive speech device designed to adapt to an individual's voice level, analyze the atriculation, and make a suitable clarification of garbled speech for persons with dysarthria (speech disorder affecting tongue or speech muscles). This automated speech processing system allows the listener to hear the individual's voice quality, inflection, emotion and dialect with no time-delay. The processor features a voice level compensation that adjusts to all voice levels from a whisper to a shout; a proximity microphone which allows the individual's voice to be heard above surrounding ambient noise; and a electronic feedback reduction that is designed to reduce the possibility of feedback. This product is available in three varying models for the preference of its user. Model 100 is designed for permanent installation on a powered chair, obtaining power from the chair's batteries. MODEL 200 is a transportable personal enhancer designed for active people and can be hung over the handles of the wheelchair. MODEL 400 is intended for health professionals in a clinical environment. Its added features include a volume control with an on/off switch; a normal or whisper switch to be utilized at the discretion of the user; and a diagnostic display output unit that is designed to enable displaying, measuring, recording and tracking client progress for comparison, client feedback, and motivation.
