« Previous Product Next Product »The Nasometer, model 6200-3, is a microcomputer-based speech training system for measuring and providing biofeedback on nasalance problems for indiviudals with cleft palate, motor speech disorders, hearing disabilities, palatal prosthetic fitting, functional nasality problems, or singing pedagogy. (Nasalance is the acoustic correlate to perceived nasality.) The device is a computerterized nasality system that measures, in real time, the ratio of acoustic energy from the oral and nasal cavities. The biofeedback display of this ratio provides a tangible target that can be used to teach proper velopharyngeal control. A pair of microphones, separated by a horizontal barrier, record separately the acoustic output from a speaker's nose and mouth. This information is then transferred to the computer. Information displayed on the screen can also be printed out. The complete system (apart from computer and printer supplied by user) consists of: the Nasometer input device (including microphones), a plug-in circuit card for the computer, Nasometer software, and the appropriate cables. POWER: 120V AC. COMPATIBILITY: PC compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: 386dx-25 or higher; VGA Graphics, One expansion slot in computer, Microsoft compatible mouse. DIMENSIONS: 15 x 3 x 7 inches. WEIGHT: 8 pounds.
