(Verified 4/1998) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The BeeperKid is a wireless signal transmitter designed to assist parents and child caregivers to maintain children within a safe distance. This two-piece proximity detection device alerts parents to the movements of the child when the child moves further than 15 feet away. Each of the units clips onto the clothing or accessories (bags, belts) of the two individuals. The adult's unit will beep if the child runs up or down staircases, into an elevator, behind closed doors, around corners, etc. The beeping will stop when the child is again within range of the adult. The adult also has the option to silence the alarm temporarily at any time by pressing a mute button. Blinking LEDs on both units inform users that the system is working and the units are communicating with each other. When the child moves out of range, the LED on the adult's unit blinks at a more rapid rate, even if the mute function is activated. The unit powers up automatically when the two units are disconnected from the recharging stand. Each unit is individually coded so that numerous units may operate in the same 30-foot diameter without interfering with each other. POWER: Battery operated with rechargeable NiCad batteries. A full charge provides approximately 6 hours of operation. A continuous beep indicates a low battery. The recharging stand is included, and recharging normally is done over night.
