It prints on all types of paper from normal paper weight to card weight (80 grams to 180 grams), as well as on plastic. This embosser prints on standard and extended width paper, single sheets and continuous forms. The printer is designed to provide consistent Braille quality on all paper types. A built-in speech synthesizer informs the user when the printer is out of paper and other status information. After re-loading the printer with paper, it will continue printing without loss of data. The parameters of the printer can be changed to the user's preference via a configuration dialogue of the PORTA-THIEL (in Braille) or a configuration of menu of a personal computer (PC). This printer embosses 6 and 8 dot Braille, supports 8 built-in Braille character sets and 8 changeable parameter tables. A QWERTY keyboard or a Braille keyboard can be connected. The PORTA-THIEL has both a serial and parallel interface. A specially designed leather case and acoustic hood are also available. POWER REQUIREMENTS: 110v, 60 Hz; or 220 v, 50 Hz, 160VA. PRINTING RATE: 10 characters per second (CPS). DIMENSIONS (WxDxH): 15 (39) x 10 (25) x 4 (11) inches (centimeters). WEIGHT: 9.9 pounds (4.5 kg).
