(Verified 3/93) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Long Range Optical Pointer (LROP) is a hardware and software package that allows standard software to be operated using only head movement. The program creates a graphic image of the computer keyboard on the monitor. The user wears a headset with an optical sensor device (Long Range Optical Pointer, or LROP) built into it. By directing the sensor toward the screen, the user moves a dot around the keyboard image. By holding the dot on a particular "key" for a certain (adjustable) period of time, the user sends that character to the computer just as if it were standard keyboard input. A switch can also be used to activate the keys. Activating a SHIFT, ALT or CONTROL key once holds that key for the next character only; activating twice in a row latches that key on until it is released by being activated again. Forty-eight "QwikWords", plus standard word endings, appear at the top of the screen; when a letter is sent as a character, up to 44 words beginning with that letter appear in place of the QwikWords. Acceptance time, repeat rate, and horizonal and vertical gain of the input device may be adjusted. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM PC computers.
