--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 01/2010) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Paragon Braille Embosser is designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This desktop embosser produces high quality Grade 2 braille that meets Federal guidelines. Its operating speed of 40 characters per second enables it to print more than 120 pages per hour, and it is capable of embossing an entire box of braille paper without stopping for a paper change (at least 1500 sheets). Using a multi-strike feature, vinyl and aluminum sheets can be embossed to make signs. The unit can print high-resolution graphic charts or tactile pictures within a page of ordinary text or on a separate sheet. Multi-Configuration allows up to 16 full groups of settings to be stored, one for each separate application. The Paragon prints on 20- to 100-pound tractor-feed paper. Its noise level of 67 decibels may vary with ambient conditions. The Paragon Braille Embosser has two ports, a Centronics-compatible parallel port and an asynchronous port. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM and compatible computers or Apple or Macintosh computers. POWER: Uses either 105-130 volts or 210-260 volts alternating current (AC); voltage is user switchable. OPTIONS: Loose sheet drive. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 9.38 x 24.63 x 11.5 inches. The unit prints on paper 1.5 to 15 inches wide and 3 to 14 inches long. WEIGHT: 52 pounds.
