(Verified 08/2012) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Comprehension Power Program is a reading tutorial program designed to improve comprehension and study skills strategies through preview skimming and reading practice. The program series consists of 15 four disk sets spanning reading levels 1-12 for elementary, secondary/college, vocational/technical, adult basic education, special education, or ESL students. Reading practice is conducted in three steps: vocabulary introduction of key words, optional untimed preview of portions of reading selections, and comprehensive reading presentation of text line by line or frame by frame build-up in short segments. Each segment is followed by comprehension questions, and text presentation can vary from 30-650 words per minute. PROGRAM COMPONENTS: Each set consists of 4 Apple 5.25-inch diskettes with 12 lessons, and a Teacher's Guide. Each set is $160. RECORDS: Following each lesson, a student's comprehension percentage, rate, reading index, number of tries and comprehension skills are presented. Final and cumulative records are maintained for up to 50 students in terms of rate, comprehension, index, and performance, and for up to 25 students for major comprehension skills. COMPATIBILITY: For use on Apple II computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: MS-DOS, 256K, and a CGA monitor.
