--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 11/2012) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. ---Reader Rabbit Preschool is an academic tutorial program designed for use by children with a variety of abilities. The program has six activities that teach pre-reading, counting, visual perception, memory, matching, and problem-solving skills. Pre-literacy and phonics skills taught by this program include recognizing letters of the alphabet, associating letters with sounds, and new vocabulary. Users learn shapes and colors to develop visual perception and memory skills. Math skills taught by this program include number recognition, counting, and simple equations. Users are taught to sort by attributes, including shape, color, size, and multiple attributes. Other skills include drawing, coloring, and creating dance sequences, calendars, and music. Activities include Lighting Bug Matchup, Rainbow Falls Painting, Rush River Letters, Sparkle Shape Mining, Sparkle Rocket Math, and Create-a-Dancequake. Users can either play a story-based activity or choose specific skills to practice. Activities automatically adjust to the child's skill level or a parent or teacher can set the skill level. Additional songs, movies, and characters are included to keep the activities new and exciting. Progress Tracking Reports are provided. Printable worksheet activities are available through a special web site. This program comes with a second CD called Reader RabbitÆs Dreamship Tales that contains more than 100 printable games and activities. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM and compatible computers or Apple Macintosh computer. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:The IBM compatible version requires a 166 megahertz (MHz) or faster Pentium processor; Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, or XP operating system; 100 megabytes (MB) available hard disk space; 8X speed CD-ROM drive; monitor with 16-bit color; and Soundblaster 16 or compatible sound card with speakers. The Macintosh version requires 180 MHz or faster processor; System 8.6-9.X or OSX operating system; 100 MB available hard disk space; 32 MB random access memory (RAM); 8X speed CD-ROM drive; monitor with 16-bit color; and 16-bit stereo audio.
