Tobii Communicator is a communicator program that is designed for use by individuals with communication or speech disabilities who communicate using a computer. Communicator facilitates communication through either text or symbols. For users that communicate with text, there is an onscreen keyboard that can be shifted between QWERTY, ABC or scan-optimized layouts, and communication is further supported by built-in grammar functions, dictionaries and word and phrase prediction tools. User can add words to the dictionary as needed. For user that cannot read or write, Communicator offers symbol pages with over 15,000 communication SymbolStix symbols. The software supports direct input via touch screen, mouse click, mouse dwell, joystick, head mouse and eyegaze controllers. Communicator also features a speech synthesis engine that can read the text or symbols produced by the user. The software also can be used to build communication pages and on-screen keyboards for different needs and abilities, and it has tools for editing and developing customized pages and editing text, pictures and sound. . Text files can be loaded and saved and user settings can be imported to and exported from another computer or dedicated speech generating device. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows XP or higher; 1 gigabyte (GB) of random access memory (RAM) recommended; up to 200 megabytes (MB) free disk space; and a display size of at least 800 x 600 pixels. Synthesized speech requires up to an additional 750 MB of disk space. OPTIONS: The Tobii Communicator is available in two editions: Standard and Premium. The Standard edition comes with a media player, picture album, webcam support, calculator, built-in games and access to the Windows desktop and applications. The Premium edition includes all of the Standard edition’s capabilities and adds e-mail, text messaging (SMS), online chat, calendars, telephone caling using Communicator’s synthetic voice and compatibility with infrared controllers, including environmental controls.
