The Tecla Shield is a control switch input interface designed for people with fine motor control or upper extremity disabilities. The Tecla Shield allows a person to use adapted switches or the driving controls of their powered wheelchair to control remotely Android-powered, Bluetooth-enabled electronic devices. The switches or driving controls connect to the Tecla Shield using the included cables through the device's six ports. The ports include 2 3.5-millimeter mono sockets, a D-Sub 9-pin male connector ECU port, a USB Type B port, and a 2.1-millimeter center-positive barrel socket (6–12 Volt). The Tecla Shield connects via Bluetooth to an Android-powered device running the Tecla app (see separate entry). The system transmits switch events wirelessly up to 100 meters in range and transmits both switch press and release events to the Android-powered device. There is no delay in switch event transmission, and the system comes with built-in switch noise filtering. DIMENSIONS (LxWxH): 3.25 x 3 x 1.75 inches. WEIGHT: 150 grams.
