Picture of CHALLENGER BX 6000 (MODELS 6000, 6000E, 6000X, & 6000XE) The Challenger BX 6000 is a rigid heavy-duty powered wheelchair designed for use by large adults with lower extremity, mobility, or neurological disabilities or spinal cord injury. In addition to the standard 6000 model, this wheelchair also comes with an extra-wide seat (noted with an "X" in the model number). FRAME (HxLxW): 37 to 39 x 42 x 26 inches. With elevating legrests, the length is 44 inches. The length without the footrests is 30 inches. The rigid one-piece polyester-coated power base frame includes rear anti-tippers and is available in midnight blue and candy apple red. The seat frame is black. The power base frame has a power shock system. CONTROLS: Integrated programmable Integra joystick controller. An optional programmer for the controller is available. RWD: Rear-wheel drive with two 0.75-horsepower direct drive right angle gear motors. SEAT (LxW): 16 x 22 or 24 inches. The back height is 17 to 19 inches, adjustable in 1 inch increments. The floor-to-seat height is 20 to 22 inches. A seat belt is standard. UPHOLSTERY: Black padded, breathable nylon upholstery. ARMRESTS: Height-adjustable, swing-back padded armrests. BRAKES: Wheel locks are standard. Optional wheel lock extensions are available. CASTERS: 8 x 2 inch cast aluminum caster wheels with air foam tires. WHEELS: 14 x 3 inch cast aluminum rear wheels with pneumatic tires and puncture-resistant tubes. FOOTRESTS: Cam action swing-away footrests or legrests with roller bumper and heel loop. The calf pads are padded. The rigging length adjusts from 17 to 21 inches. Elevating legrests (noted with an "E" in the model number) are available. OPTIONS: IV rod attachment; tray; oxygen tank holder. POWER: Uses two deep cycle U-1 batteries (not included). A 6-amp, 24-volt external charger is standard. A direct battery charge harness is optional. SPEEDS: 5.2 miles per hour for a range of up to 27 miles per charge. CAPACITY: 360 pounds. WEIGHT: 108 or 111 pounds.
