--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 01/2004) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The ElectraLink is a control switch interface unit designed to enable individuals with upper extremity disabilities to operate electric appliances using a single switch. To use this device, the user plugs the ElectraLink into a standard wall outlet, plugs a single switch into the appropriate ElectraLink receptacle, and plugs in the appliance to be controlled. The appliance's control should be switched to the "on" position and the appropriate setting selected on the ElectraLink unit. The connected appliance such as a blender, coffeemaker, radio, lamp, fan, etc. can then be controlled using the switch. The unit offers a direct mode, which activates the ElectraLink and the connected appliance when the switch is pressed; a latched mode, which activates the appliance with a press of the switch and turns it off with the next press of the switch; and a timed mode which activates the appliance when the switch is pressed and causes it to operate for a predetermined time period, from one through sixty seconds or from one to sixty minutes. The ElectraLink has built-in ultrasonic capability, enabling it to be operated using ultrasound transmitters (not included).
