Necessary Knowledge is an independent living skills tutorial and job skills training system designed for use by individuals with cognitive, learning, or vision disabilities. This series of 36 duplicatable books and 36 audio CDs is written at an average fourth grade reading level and can be used by high school students and adults independently or in groups. Each book teaches a specific set of skills and vocabulary. Some of the titles include: The Interview; First Weeks of Work; Earning Money Now; You Can Get the Job; Self-Concept and Work; How to Get and Hold a Job; Comparative Shopping; Consumerism; Understanding Labels; Consumer Laws; Consumer Fraud; Getting Consumer Help; Reading Ads; and Buying a Used Car. A teacher’s guide, activities sheets, pre- and post-assessments and lesson plans are provided at no extra cost. 26 of the titles are also available in Spanish. All materials are available in digital format (Word and/or PDF) after purchase at no additional cost. This allows the print to be enlarged and/or the materials put into alternate formats.
