(Verified 02/2010) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Fraction-Oids 1 for Macintosh is a math skills game designed to provide students with a combination of game play and problem solving. The program uses graphics to reinforce the concepts of fractions. Fraction-Oids are representations which use their knowledge of fractions to share things; Queen Grudgeon roams the galaxy in her warship and locks away the Fraction-Oids. The player's goal is to save the Fraction-Oids while acquiring an understanding of the meaning of fractions, learning how to compare fractions, and gaining an understanding of simple addition and subtraction of fractions. Players can experiment with interactive graphical representations of fractions to see the effect of graphical changes on a fraction's denominator and numerator and the effect of numerical changes on the fraction's graphical representation. The program features Challenge Upgrade so that Fraction-Oids 1 can be customized to individual preferences by varying the level of difficulty, selecting the number of questions per game, selecting the number of retries, creating math questions, turning off gaming to drill fractions, and more. A user's guide is included with the software. Fraction-Oids for Macintosh I is available on 3.5-inch disks for Macintosh computers. COMPATIBILITY: For use on Macintosh computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Memory requirements include a minimum of 1M and 2M respectively for Macintosh black and white and color systems. WARRANTY/GUARANTEE: If less than satisfied, manufacuturer will fully refund disks (in resaleable condition) returned in 30 days. Return defective disks to Mindplay for replacement. The disk will be replaced for free for 90 days thereafter, for a handling fee of $10.
