Sounds Abound Interactive Software, model N62-6-WS, is an auditory perceptual training program designed for use by children with learning disabilities. This program helps users to develop and master phonological awareness, build awareness of sound-symbol association, and make judgments about phonemes and integrate this knowledge with how words are read and spelled. This pre-reading program emphasizes ear/brain training to prepare children to complete phonological awareness tasks. The student sees full-color pictures and listens as the narrator presents directions and stimuli orally. The program has 15 activities addresses the skills of rhyming, beginning sounds, ending sounds, segmentation, and blending. Each activity consisting of five sets of 10 questions, for a total of 750 stimulus items. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible or Macintosh computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: IBM and compatible computers require Windows 2000, XP, or Vista operating system. Macintosh computers require OSX 10.2.6 or higher. Either computer type requires 500 megabytes (MB) memory; 24x CD-ROM drive; 200 MB of hard drive space; 1024 x 768 screen resolution; and sound card.
