(Verified 02/2010) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Jo-Jo Joins The Reading Circus is a pre reading tutorial program designed to build basic reading and pattern recognition skills (body awareness, self expression) for children in pre-school through the second grade. Featuring digitized speech, this animated computer program revolves around four circus characters--a clown, an acrobat, an animal tamer and a juggler. Each character helps the user develop specific reading skills: the clown helps to develop body awareness, challenging the user to match body parts as well as teaching sight words; the acrobat presents word formation, in particular, initial and ending consonant digraphs, consonant blends and auditory consonant combinations; and the juggler teaches the user how to match upper and lower case letters and sounds. At the end of the program, the user is also able to print their progress. COMPATIBILITY: Macintosh with System 7 or higher. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: 256 bit color monitor, a hard drive with 8 megabytes of free space and 300K of available RAM memory. OPTIONS: The program is available on CD-ROM or 3.5 inch disk.
