---DISCONTINUED. (VERIFIED 7/93) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE.--- The Hinged Ankle Fracture Cast Brace is used like a plastic shoe insert for early bracing of fractures of the tibia and fibula. Single axis joint at the ankle, strong, lightweight uprights and an extended foot plate for added foot control. Single axis joint, positioned directly over the anatomical axis of the ankle, reduces fracture site strain and allows for normal tibial torsion. Also alleviates strain applied to the brace itself and reduces the possibility of breaking the unit during ambulation.
