The ShowerBuddy, model SB1, is a caster shower commode designed for use by individuals with lower extremity, mobility or severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. This system allows a caregiver to transfer an individual over the edge of a shower enclosure for ease in showering or to be rolled over a standard or elongated toilet when used as a commode. For transfer into or out of a bathtub, see the TubBuddy (see separate entry). The ShowerBuddy features a chair with a cut-out commode seat on a base with four casters and a transfer track with two rails. One end of the transfer track is placed in the shower area, and its four feet are securely anchored in the shower with rails extending out of the shower over any edge up to 7.1 inches high. The wheeled base of the chair connects to the transfer track, and the seat detaches from the base and slides along the rails into the shower area. Once in the shower area, the seat can rotate 360 degrees. Other features include a commode system, removable foldaway arms, footrest, and lap and chest belts. The unit is corrosion- and mold-resistant and can be assembled without tools. OPTIONS: Body point belt; seat cushion overlay; headrest. FRAME: (WxD): The wheeled base is 22.5 x 31.9 inches, and the total length of the wheeled base and the transfer track is 62.4 inches. The maximum clearance of the transfer track is 7.2 inches. SEAT (WxD): The seat is 18 x 17 inches. The back is 18.7 inches wide and 21.5 inches high. The arms are 18 inches wide inside and 22.5 inches outside. The floor-to-seat height adjusts from 21.5 to 24.2 inches. CASTERS: 5-inch locking casters. CAPACITY: 300 pounds. WARRANTY: 2-year limited warranty.
