The Sociable Dual/Tandem Recumbent is a recumbent tandem bicycle designed for use by individuals with lower extremity disabilities. This tandem bicycle has a flex frame design with a telescoping boom. Users on each side can pedal independently at their own pace. The bicycle can be used on the street or a bicycle trail, and accommodates riders from 4 to 7 feet tall. Components include a 4130 Chromoly frame with RAL powder coating, a Chromoly Unicrown fork, 6061 anodized aluminum seats with a nylon mesh cover; alloy wheels with stainless steel rims; front and rear Shimano V-brakes. Available drive trains include an 8-speed rear derailleur drive, an 8-speed internal rear hub drive, or a 24-speed SRAM dual drive. One or both sides of the 8-speed rear derailleur drive model can be put on a trainer for indoor use. The cycle tips up on rear for maintenance or storage in a 3 x 4 foot storage space. OPTION: Build It Your Way Frameset Kit containing all components; cargo bag; adjustable seat back; golf bag carrier; transport carrier for 1.25- or 2-inch receiver hitch; transport carrier wheel stops; bell; headlight; mirror; rear basket; tire liners to prevent flats; KneeSavers for toe-out condition, large feet, wide pelvis, or bowlegs; clipless pedals; extra set of Q/R steering control arms; umbrella holder; head rest; seat strap(s); crank arm length adjuster; and hand crank system. DIMENSIONS (LxW): 72 x 49 inches. Track is 26 inches long. The wheels are 20 inches in diameter with 20 x 1.75 inch tires. CAPACITY: 250 pounds per side or a total of 500 pounds. A bicycle with a higher capacity can be custom-built. WEIGHT: 85 pounds. COLOR: Fast red, jet black, Pacific blue, or champagne metallic.
