Signature 2000 Custom Molded Seating Systems are foam in place seating systems designed for use in wheelchairs by people with physical disabilities. The Signature 2000 system uses a portable simulator to capture the contours of the body, correcting anatomical deformities when possible and accomidating others. Provided to a therapist or seating specialist, the Sensor Array measures the body contours in .5-inch increments and transfers this information to a computer grid, enabling the seat and back to be sensed in a matter of minutes. The system enables multiple on-screen modifications to be made to the cushion. Pressure relief can be provided for specific areas by the use of different densities of foam. Other on-screen modification options include the raising and lowering of lateral walls, increased sitting depth, on-screen cushion orientation, and more. The data is downloaded to a three-axis computerized milling machine, allowing for the thickness of the liner to be used, and cut from a block of ethafoam. It is then prepared for a trial fit and returned to the therapist or seating specialist within 72 hours of receiving the mold, whether received in computerized form or as a plaster cast. The cushion is returned unfinished for a trial fit, enabling the actual cushion to be tested with the user and the wheelchair. If modifications are required, they can be marked on the cushion and the cushion returned for completion. Once returned after the trial fit period, the cushion is permanently mounted, vacuum formed, and returned to the user within two weeks.
