--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 7/2004) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Sound Activated Transmitter/Pager is a paging system designed to enable a person with a disability to summon assistance. The system ($60) consists of a sound-activated transmitter/pager and a portablereceiver. The sensitivity of the transmitter is adjustable to respond to a stimulus such as a puff of air, a low voice, a telephone ringer, a doorbell, an electrical appliance, etc. The system operates within a distance of 100 feet, and once activated, the receiver beeps until turned off. A Sound Activated Vibrating Pager ($80) is also available. The transmitter works in the same way as the other model, but the receiver vibrates when activated, enabling the device to summon an individual with hearing disabilities or who is in a noisy environment. POWER: Battery operated.
