--- DISCONTINUED. RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Vibrotactile amplification system for profoundly hearing impaired people. Allows user to distinguish between environmental and phonetic sounds. Enables user to enhance lipreading skills, improve production of speech, and to understand some speech without lipreading. Device is operated by rechargeable batteries. Consists of a lapel microphone, electronic speech analyzer in a belt pack, and two tactile vibrators worn on the wrists. Analyzer converts sound from the microphone into matrixes vibrations which are transmitted to the vibrators. User selects either two channel mode in which voiced sounds are discernable on one vibrator and voiceless sounds on the other, or alternate three channel mode in which voiced sounds are distinguishable on both vibrators and voiceless sounds on only one. Includes a 20 lesson step by step training program manual.

Notes: Training must be carried out by a qualified therapist.
