The Element Hearing Aid, models Element 4, Element 8, and Element 16, is a programmable hearing aid in a behind the ear (BTE) or in the ear (ITE)shell, designed for use by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The unit's microphones use directional and surround strategies to help focus on speech. Whistling feedback from the hearing instrument itself is automatically cancelled, and the unit adjusts automatically for loud wind and suppresses sudden, unsettling noises such as a door slam. The hearing aid senses proximity of a telephone and automatically switches to telephone mode. Actual usage information is captured for use by the audiologist for counseling and fine-tuning. Element 4 has 4 channels and is designed for users who interact in fewer, quieter environments. Element 8 has 8 channels and is designed for individuals who spend their social time at home and in other diverse environments. Element 16 has 16 channels and is designed for users who are active in many diverse listening environments. All models are available in BTE and ITE styles, including Moxi, a BTE with Canal Receiver Technology (CRT), and Moda, an open fit BTE.
