(Verified 07/96) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- LUV-1 (formerly called Amcom C) is a portable text telephone/telecommunication device for the deaf (TDD) with a 34-key keyboard and a 16-character display. The unit has a control system that is microprocessor based and displays "OK" if all circuits are functioning properly. It has 1024 bytes of memory and a clock frequency of 6 MHZ. KEYBOARD: The 3-row keyboard's 34 keys have 3/4 centers. The standard character set has automatic carriage return and line feed. The keypad includes GA and SK keys, a manual carriage return, and a clear key. Characters are uppercase alphanumeric with selected punctuation. DISPLAY: The display is a 16-character alphanumeric vacuum fluorescent. Character height is .54 inches. Display angle is raised 25 degrees. Average brightness of the green lettering is 200 FT-L. TELECOMMUNICATIONS: Output from the LUV-1 is Baudot at either 45.5 (American) or 50 (European) baud. The coupler will accept most standard handsets. POWER: Runs on 6 AA nickel cadmium rechargeable batteries. DIMENSIONS: 10 x 10 x 2.25 inches. WEIGHT: 2 pounds. COLOR: 2-tone beige and brown.
