The CAL-10 is a caliper audio unit designed to provide talking readouts for standard digital micrometers or calipers for individuals who are blind or have low vision. It is a serial interface that plugs directly into the caliper and allows for clear, concise, natural voice annunciation (male or female) in English or metric, up to the furthest decimal expansion the micrometer supplies. A simple push of the button gives you the measurement in either spoken english or spanish. All sound is encoded in stable EPROM memory, so the unit is maintainence free. It contains an on board speaker, as well as a phone jack for ear or head phones and it has a knob for adjusting the volume. It is encased in a tough plastic housing that will stand up to the rough handling in machine shops. The CAL-10 can be worn or carried for use when measuring is done in dimlighting conditions or in tight spaces. POWER: Ac adapter or battery. DIMENSIONS: 5 x 3 x 2 inches.
