The Challenger Recliner, model 2040, is a powered folding wheelchair with a manual reclining back designed for use by adults with lower extremity, mobility, or neurological disabilities or spinal cord injury. In addition to the standard 2040E model, this wheelchair comes in narrow (NE) and wide (WE) versions. FRAME (HxLxW): 42 (with seat back upright) x 34 x 24, 26, or 28 inches. With extended footrests, the length is 47 inches. The folded dimensions (LxW) are 34 x 15 inches. The folding chrome-plated frame includes rear anti-tippers. CONTROLS: Integrated programmable Integra joystick controller. An optional programmer for the controller is available. RWD: Rear-wheel drive with two right angle gear 0.5-horsepower motor. SEAT (LxW): 17 x 16, 18, or 20 inches. The back height is 33 inches. The floor-to-seat height is 20 inches. A seat belt is standard. The hydraulic assist manual recline back reclines from 90 to 180 degrees. UPHOLSTERY: Black or dark blue padded nylon upholstery. ARMRESTS: Height-adjustable, detachable padded armrests. BRAKES: Wheel locks are standard. Optional wheel lock extensions are available. CASTERS: 8 x 2 inch cast aluminum caster wheels with air foam tires. WHEELS: 20 x 2.125 inch cast aluminum rear wheels with pneumatic tires and puncture- resistant tubes. Tires with airless inserts are optional. FOOTRESTS: Cam- action swing-away footrests or legrests with roller bumper and heel loop. The calf pads are padded. The rigging length is 16 to 21 inches. Elevating legrests are standard. OPTIONS: IV rod attachment; tray; and oxygen tank holder. POWER: Uses two deep cycle U-1 batteries (not included). A 5-amp, 24-volt external charger is standard. A 10-amp charger and a direct battery charge harness are optional. SPEEDS: 5.2 miles per hour for a range of up to 22 miles per charge. CAPACITY: 250 pounds on model 2040NE or 2040E; 280 pounds on model 2040WE. WEIGHT: 105, 108, or 111 pounds.
