Basic Adult Competencies is an independent living skills tutorial and job skills training system designed for use by individuals with cognitive, learning, or vision disabilities. This series of 14 duplicatable books is written at a third to sixth grade reading levels and can be used by high school students and adults independently or in groups. Each book teaches a specific set of skills. The books start with a pretest, followed by a series of specific skill sections with a short test after each section, and end with a posttest. Available as a set, titles include: Advertising; Buying Wisely; Comparison Shopping; Credit; Credit Laws; Emergencies; Finding a Job; Income and Budgeting; Insurance; Job Interviews; Job Applications; Keeping A Job; Legal Documents; and Safety Hazards. A teacher’s guide and lesson plans are provided at no extra cost. The duplicatable books are in available in digital format (Word and/or PDF) after purchase at no additional cost. This allows the print to be enlarged and/or the materials put into alternate formats.
