(Verified 11/2004) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Sprinter, model 889DX4-4, is a heavy-duty four-wheeled scooter designed for use by individuals with mobility or neurological disabilities, spinal cord injury, or arthritis. The unit includes headlights, tail lights, turn signals/hazard lights, a front bumper, and a large front wicker basket. FRAME (LxWxH): The overall dimensions are 57 x 26 x 38.5 to 43.5 inches. The wheelbase is 38 x 22 inches with a ground clearance of 7 inches. The turning radius is 95 inches. The frame does not disassemble. CONTROLS: Controls are mounted on an adjustable tiller. FWD: Four-wheel drive with full suspension. The front wheeels are driven by a 0.75 horsepower motor and the rear wheels are driven by a separate one horsepower motor. SEAT: The padded, swivel captain's seat is 22 inches wide and has a headrest. The seat height adjusts from 28 to 30 inches. ARMRESTS: Adjustable flip-up armrests. BRAKES: Electronic brakes with an emergency handbrake. WHEELS: Four wheels with 12-inch tires. OPTIONS: Sun shade, rear view mirror, front mesh basket, rear wire basket, cane holder, walker holder, armrest carrying bag, and more. POWER: Uses 12-volt 22 NF batteries. SPEEDS: 5 miles per hour with a travel range of up to 25 miles per battery charge and a climbing angle of 8 degrees. CAPACITY: 500 pounds. WEIGHT: 200 pounds without batteries. The seat weighs 34 pounds.
