--- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 8/97) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. ---The Carrette is a rear wheel drive three-wheeled powered scooter for indoor and outdoor use. FRAME: The 24-inch wide base has front and rear bumbers to protect the scooter and the surroundings. The back of the base has a tray built-in underneath the seat for additional carrying capacity. The scooter has a 4-piece modular design that disassembles without tools, and the tiller folds down for transport and storage. Standard body color is light and dark gray. CONTROLS: The controls are located the adjustable tiller that adjusts both forward and back for optimum steering comfort. The control panel features an on/off switch with safety key, variable speed dial, warning horn, battery charge level indicator, and dual thumb control levers that start, stop, or reverse the scooter with either or both hands. RWD: The rear wheel drive train with differential provides power to climb 20 percent inclines. SEAT: Dimensions of the seat are 18 x 16 inches with a 15-inch back height. The seat is adjustable 4 inches forward and backward and the seat height is adjustable from 15 to 18 inches. The seat swivels 360 degrees and locks in place. CUSHION: Seat is made of molded foam support without seams. UPHOLSTERY: The seat is contoured and padded, covered with a plush fabric and vinyl backed for moisture resistance. ARMRESTS: Padded, flip-up arms have steel reinforcement for weight-bearing strength. Vinyl covered. BRAKES: Electro-mechanical, regenerative and shunt braking activated by releasing the thumb control lever. WHEELS: 10.25 inches (26 cm) gray, non-marking pneumatic threaded tires. POWER: Gel cell battery operated. SPEEDS: Up to 5.5 miles per hour for a range of up to 20 miles per charge, depending on battery type, terrain, weight of driver and ambient temperature. CAPACITY: Maximum lead capacity is 300 pounds. WEIGHT: Overall weight without batteries is 109 pounds; heaviest single module is 44 pounds.
