The Elaine Anne Lift System is a wheelchair lift for a pickup truck or sport utility vehicle designed to enable drivers who use wheelchairs to enter and drive the vehicle while remaining in the wheelchair. This lift is available for Chevrolet Suburbans, Avalanche, and Tahoe; General Motors Yukon, Yukon Denalie, and Yukon XL; and Cadillac Escalade, Escalade EXT, and Escalade ESV. It is also available for the Hummer and Chevrolet and General Motors pick-up trucks with crew or extended cabs (0.75-, 0.5-, or 1 ton models). The system includes modification of the driver's side of the vehicle for wheelchair accessibility, including the addition of a gull-wing opening behind the driver's seat for access. To enter the vehicle, the user rolls up the attached ramp on to the lift platform; the ramp folds up and the lift sequence begins. Once level with the vehicle, the lift platform slides laterally to position the driver in the vehicle, the platform completes travel, the lift folds up, the gull-wing closes, the platform slides forward to the driving position, and the driver's door closes. Standard features include placement for proper eye leveL for driving comfort, automatic wheelchair restraint, adjustable fore/aft wheelchair positioning, and adjustable shoulder and head rest. OPTIONS: Controls such as turn indicators, high/low beam switch, the wiper switch, and the horn can be placed in the head rest. Other controls such as the on/off control of a cellular phone can be mounted in the door for activation with an elbow. DIMENSIONS: The distance from the driver's toes to the back of the wheelchair wheels is 45.75 inches; from the floor to the top of the head, 55.75 inches; the height from floor to eye level is 50 inches. Custom modification for dimensions are available.
